Building a Layer 2 Map in OpManager

Building a Layer 2 Map in OpManager

OpManager allows you to discover Layer2 devices that are connected to your network and draws a visual representation of the same. This includes a detailed map of all the nodes, interconnected layers and port-to-port connectivity in addition to the interfaces.

Create a Layer 2 Map by clicking on the 'Maps -> Layer 2 Maps' button within the Menu Bar, followed by the icon to the right hand side of Layer 2 Maps:

Complete the fields accordingly:

      1. Layer 2 Map Name must be unique to any existing map
      2. Discovery Mechanism  LLDP and ARP must be selected
      3. Router IPv4 Address must be the IP of the head-end router
      4. Schedule Interval is based on how often the map is to automatically update
      5. Start IP / End IP represents the IP address range(s) which you'd like to be included within the map
      6. Set Uplink Dependency is optional. This helps to avoid multiple device down alarms when a parent device goes down.
      7. Credentials must be selected for core and end devices.

Once completed, click the Discover button, which should display the below notification:

Followed by the below Layer2 Maps page, displaying the map as configured in previous steps, as well as the associated units:

All Layer 2 Maps can be viewed, refreshed, and edited at the bottom of the Maps page:
